Wintersett + Insects 06.10.2022

Wintersett Res:

A Whooper Swan flew over south, at 08.05hrs.   The Great White Egret was in the southwest corner.

Little Egret 1.  Shoveler 33.   Wigeon 37.  Goldeneye 4.  House Martin 1.  

A Cetti's Warbler was in the boathouse reedbed.  Chiffchaff 7.

Anglers CP Roost:

5 Great Black-backed Gulls were in tonight.

Insects:

Green shield bug, Palomena prasina, is widespread in the UK.   It is seldom, if ever, troublesome and is a bug you can enjoy sharing your garden with. The bugs show an incredible diversity in their appearance as they develop: from little tiny round green babies with black dots, they grow bigger and bigger until finally acquiring their characteristic shield shape.

Odonata in the area:  

WRes: Migrant Hawker  4 (2 east bank, 1 Boathouse Reedbed1 west bank  WRes.)  + 1 Anglers CP 

 Pol Boardwalk Pond: 

1 male Common Darter , 1 male  Southern Hawker and 3 Willow Emerald Damselflies.

Lepidoptera: WRes: 

A Small White west bank,  a Speckled Wood  east bank and  2 Commas SE corner and SW corner .

Vespidae:  

A Hornet was on ivy on Station Road, Ryhill.
