The Edge

A cold, gloomy day with persistent drizzle made counting difficult with many birds seeking shelter around the edges of waterbodies.

Wombwell Ings mid/late AM- On the  water were 120+ Wigeon,19 Teal, 17 Mallard, 11 Shoveler, 8 Gadwall, 3 Shelduck, 2f+1m Goosander, 5 Tufted Duck, 100+ BH Gull, and 1 Little Grebe. Also present were 46 Canada Geese, 30+ Redwing, a group of 10 Pied Wagtail, 1 Grey Wagtail, 3+ singing Skylark, 2 Meadow Pipit, 2 Grey Partridge, 2 Redshank, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Grey Heron and 1 Reed Bunting.

Broomhill Flash early PM- On the  water were 1 Cormorant, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Little Grebe, 2 Mute Swan, 12 Mallard, 12 Wigeon, 11 Tufted Duck, 7 Shoveler, 5 Gadwall, 4 Pochard, 1f+1m Goldeneye, 185+ BH Gull and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 1 Kestrel, 1 Snipe, 1 Little Owl and 1 Hare.
