A mild day today, 9c this morning at 07.30 when I started out, clear at first but soon clouded over and wind picked up. Very quiet birdwise, 3 female Goldeneye probably best thing plus Coot at 343 could be a record count, I will have to check my notes. No Little Grebes on the main pools but 3 on the river Dearne adjacent to Bolton Common along with 1 Redshank, 1 Grey Wag and 1 Kingfisher. Decided to compare todays birds to those on same day last year, species and counts very similar, the only significant change was Coot at 206 - 67% increase from last year to this. Also had a cream crown Marsh Harrier this day last year.
