The Edge 26.07.16

Wombwell Ings - Highlight was a Garganey flushed out of the safety of the grassy shoreline into the flash by horses wanting a drink.Also present were 4 Mute Swan, 31 Canada Geese, 5 Greylag, 87 Mallard, 9 Gadwall, 4 Shoveler, 5 Little Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 3 Cormorant, 8 Coot, 3 Moorhen, 23  Lapwing, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Ringed Plover, 61 BH Gull, 3 Linnet and a singing Willow Warbler on the Bulling Dyke.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 52 Canada Geese, 16 Little Grebe, 1+1y Great Crested Grebe, 28 Gadwall, 7+19y Tufted Duck, 9 Pochard, 5 Mallard, 3 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant, 107 Coot, 7 Moorhen, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Barn Owl, 77 Lapwing, 7 Snipe, 3 Common Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper,  23 BH Gull and  1 LBB Gull.
TPT - Singing males 2 Chiffchaff and 2 Blackcap. Also 3 Jay.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 2+5y Mute Swan, 4 Greylag, 2 Canada Geese, 26 Gadwall, 21 Pochard, 8 Tufted Duck, 6 Mallard, 9 Little Grebe, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 77 Coot and 1 Moorhen.Also present were 1 Grey Heron,1 Marsh Harrier (through at 12.30pm), 1 Kingfisher and 1m+1f+1juv Grey Wagtail (on the Dearne, downstream of the Five Arches Bridge).
