Carlton Marsh - Monday 18th

A Hobby few over the car cark while we were preparing to put out the light traps for a moth catching session. 6 Pipistrelles and a Noctule Bat were feeding on the myriad of insects and male and female Tawny Owl were calling.
Present were H. E. Baumont, E. Evans, D.M.Smith, R Laverack and me. The very warm humid conditions (still 20c at 1.15am) were perfect allowing us to identify at least 48 species of macro moths with perhaps as many micro moths. The highlights were; Small Yellow Wave, Bordered White, The Engrailed, Silky Wainscot, Small Rufous, Beautiful Hook-tip, Dingy Shell, The Miller, Dingy Shears and Blue Bordered Carpet,
