Thanks for that - Gary Lee offered same ID. Gold Spot is not in my concise field guide but I was struck by the shiny gold on the wings which doesn't really show on the phone photo.
Sorry Ian I have only just seen this, but I see my learned colleagues have already given you the answer you required. It is a lovely moth often found on Buddleja.

Just in case Cliff doesn't see this...lower tear-shaped white blotch suggests Gold Spot, Plusia festucae.
