The Edge 15/06/2019

Warbler Way -Singing males included 11 Blackcap, 7 Chiffchaff, 3 Willow Warbler, 3 Whitethroat, 1 Cettis Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 2 Song Thrush.
Bolton Ings - Highlight was a Cuckoo that gave a brief view on the power lines at 9.45am before flying towards Bolton west end. On the open water were 1 Mute Swan, 16 Tufted Duck, 12 Mallard, 6+9y Pochard, 2 Gadwall, 1 Shoveler, 3+1y Great Crested Grebe, 1 Little Grebe, 52+21y Coot, 4 LBB Gull and 1 Common Gull. The first young Black Headed Gull of the year was seen flying over the east pool. Also present were 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Green Woodpecker and 2 Bullfinch.
Wombwell Ings - Present were 19 Mute Swan, 7 Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 94+9y Gadwall, 11+5y Mallard, 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Shoveler, 1 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 2 Little Egret, 13 Coot, 1 Moorhen, 6 Lapwing, 1 Dunlin, 1 Redshank, 15 BH Gull, 3+ Skylark, 3 Pied Wagtail, 1 Grey Wagtail,1 Sedge Warbler and 3 Linnet. 20+ House Martin were busy collecting mud from the front edge of the flash.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+4y Mute Swan, 26+9y Canada Geese, 11 Greylag, 1 Bar Headed Goose, 17 Tufted Duck, 9 Gadwall, 8 Mallard, 1 Shoveler, 5+2y Little Grebe, 1 Little Egret, 37+4y Coot, 2 Moorhen, 12 Lapwing and 1 Redshank.
