The Edge 10/05/2019

Wombwell Ings - Present were 4 Mute Swan, 2 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 22 Gadwall, 3 Mallard, 1 Shoveler, 1 Tufted Duck, 21 Coot, 5+ Lapwing, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Redshank, 13 BH Gull, 1 Herring Gull, 5+ Skylark, c100 Swallow, c30 Swift, c20 House Martin, 1 Song Thrush, 2 Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Treecreeper and 4 Linnet.
Broomhill Flash - Highlight was a Black Tern. Also noted were 2 Mute Swan, 2 Canada Geese, 18 Tufted Duck, 12 Gadwall, 10+8y Mallard, 3 Shoveler, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Little Grebe, 21 Coot, 5 Lapwing, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Dunlin, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 LBB Gull and 1 Wheatear. A Willow Warbler and a Blackcap were singing in the car park.
TPT- Singing males included 8 Chiffchaff, 7 Willow Warbler, 6 Blackcap, 3 Whitethroat, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Sedge Warbler and 1 yaffling Green Woodpecker.
Bolton Ings - Highlights were a Bittern flying east over the reeds on the far side of the east pool at 11.53am and another  Bittern flying west along the front edge at 12.05pm.  On the open water were 6 Mute Swan, 4 Greylag, 3 Canada Geese, 13 Tufted Duck, 4 Gadwall, 4 Mallard, 3m+1f Pochard, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 52+14y Coot, 2 LBB Gull and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 3 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret over west, 1 Kestrel, 2 Oystercatcher over west, 1 Song Thrush, 2 Bullfinch and 1 Linnet.
