19/3/21 Sightings throughout the day - Swans, Geese and Red Kites

Today was one of those days where I picked up birds throughout:

6.30am High Green - Red Kite seen low over fields below Greno Woods before drifting towards High Green. Then a Brambling called as it flew low north in the mizzle. Also 4 Song Thrush sang in close proximity in Low Hall Wood and a Greenfinch displayed.

7.40am Nr Thurgoland - Red Kite again (same one?) over fields again next to A629 heading towards Silkstone Common.

8am Langsett Res - Oystercatcher pair

8.10-8.45am Midhope Res - Little Grebe, c20 Meadow Pipit >N, 2 Redwing, 17 Curlew, 7 Stock Dove

10am Chapeltown - c25 Whooper Swans >N over Chapeltown (reported as c30 by others at similar time)

11.15 - 12 Wharncliffe Chase (vis-mig) with reports of large swan movements in headed to higher ground affording long views to the east despite some mist patches. No swans seen in this spell but - Pink Footed Geese 24 NW @11.20 and c50 N @11.35, 7 Cormorant flew towaards Howbrook Dams, 4 adult LBBG >N, 2 Curlew, Skylark, Yellowhammer and c30 Starling >N

13.30 High Green - c100 Whooper Swans >NNW (reported as 120-130 by others) seen from my bedroom window.
