Carlton Marsh

 2 Redshank, 1 Lesser Black -backed north, 12 Chiffchaffs were singing along with Cetti's Warbler.

 6 Small Tortoiseshells were flying this afternoon ad 2 Orange Underwing moths.

At dusk a Snipe flew off the marsh (D, Standish).

Storrs Mill Wood to Ardsley Viaduct (on the River Dearne)
5 Buzzards, a pair of Grey wagtails, Green and Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Grey Partridges, 5 Lapwings, Treecreeper, and potentially 2 pairs of breeding Kingfishers. A mink was seen on this stretch.
The first Bluebells are coming into flower.

Butterflies included the first male Orange -tip of the year, 9 Peacock, 41 Small Tortoiseshell, 20 Comma, 12m Brimstone and 1 Small White. (Chris Parkin)

Cudworth Common
A Woodcock was flushed near the wind turbine (Arthur Vincent).
