Bolton Ings - 3rd March

No internet connection last night therefore my report a day later than usual. Not a bad day weather-wise but very quiet on the bird front. 5c at 9am rising to 11c early afternoon, cloudy, dry with little wind. A noticeable increase in Little Grebes, Gadwall down by half on last week with 3 Goldeneye and a Shelduck. Full list :- Grey Heron 1, Mute Swan 8, Canada Goose 20, Grey Lag Goose 4, Cormorant 2, Great Crested Grebe 2, Little Grebe 11, Mallard 26, Teal 8, Gadwall 42, Shoveler 2, Wigeon 18, Shelduck 1, Tufted Duck 38, Pochard 10, Goldeneye 1m + 2f, Coot 159, Moorhen 6, Kestrel 1, Lapwing 6, Oystercatcher 2, Black Headed Gull 404, LBB Gull 1, Common Gull 34, Jay 2, Green Woodpecker 1, Grey Wagtail 1.

Spent a couple of hours on Old Moor in the afternoon/early evening, again very quiet. 15 Goldeneye on the Main Marsh ( 3 males, 1 imm. male and 11 females ) and 47 Goosanders roosted on the Wader Scrape.
