feast to the east?

There was no sign of the Avocet at Old Moor tonight, the last time I have for it so far is late morning.

The Avocet at Old Moor this morning - Jim Thompson

There were however 2 Bitterns, 4 Water Rail, Peregrine, Ringed Plover, Dunlin, Green Sandpiper and about 4,450 Black-headed Gulls, most of which left east at dusk (Jeff Wragg). I believe the Old Moor record stands at 5,000 in May 1988, so we are getting close.

A quick visit to Wombwell Ings: Wigeon c200, Redshank 2, Snipe 2, Green Sandpiper.
