The Edge 28.06.16

Wombwell Ings - With only two birds noted along the Bulling Dyke, there appears a distinct lack of Swallows in the Broomhill Area this summer. Is this typical of the wider Barnsley area? Present were 9 Mute Swan, 2+3y Greylag, 1 Canada Goose, 7 Tufted Duck, 4 Gadwall, 3 Shoveler, 3 Mallard, 1 Cormorant, 4 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 13 Coot, 1 Moorhen, 27 Lapwing, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Snipe, 28 BH Gull, 4 Skylark, 2 Pied Wagtail, 2 Linnet, a singing Sedge Warbler and a singing Song Thrush+3 Mistle Thrush in Broomhill Park.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 38 Canada Geese,1 Greylag, 9 Gadwall, 6 Tufted Duck, 3 Mallard, 3+5y Pochard, 1 Teal, 2+2y Great Crested Grebe, 3+2y Litle Grebe, 47 Coot, 16 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper, 90+ BH Gull and 1 LBB Gull.
TPT - Singing males 8 Willow Warbler, 6 Blackcap, 3 Chiffchaff, 1 Sedge Warbler and 1 Whitethroat.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 64 Gadwall, 15 Tufted Duck, 3+7y Mallard, 2+3y Pochard, 2 Little Grebe, 71+20y Coot and 150+ BH Gull. Also present were 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 2 LBB Gull, 3 Lapwing and 1 Grey Wagtail.
