Crazy weather. 9 degrees with 8/8 cloud and a cool northerly until mid morning. Then the sun broke through and the temperature rocketed to 20 degrees with a light south easterly.
Wintersett Res: The highlight today was a new species for this area. - a male RED-EYED DAMSELFLY, found by Pete Smith on the NE bank, on Amphibious Bistort, Persicaria amphibia.
5 Common Terns were feeding here and then over Anglers CP. 3 male Cetti's Warblers + 1 CHRes. Unusual behaviour? The north bank male Cetti's Warbler was seen with a beak full of food for young, while still singing very quietly.
Anglers CP: Oystercatcher young 2 x 2.
Lepidoptera and Odonata:
Disposal Point - Dingy Skipper 3, Common Blue 1, Small Heath 1
Moorhouse Lane Ponds: Large Red Damselfly, Orange Tip 1m.
WRes: Chimmney Sweeper 1 on north bank. Blue-tailed Damselfly on west bank.
