Carlton Marsh

According to my records today was the coldest since 1/3/18 with a maximum of just 0.04c. This afternoon's sightings included 190 BH Gulls, 2 Common Gulls and 4 Lapwings on the wader scrape. A skein of Pink Feet Geese flew west above the fog at 14.20hrs. Also present single Redpoll, Song Thrush, Fieldfare, Redwing, Greenfinch and Sparrowhawk. The snow has flattened most of the reed beds, its been a while since I have witnessed that! (Chris Parkin/CG)

A Fox was on the prowl.

Both male Blackcaps in Dave Smith's Carlton garden at 09.00hrs today
