Carlton Marsh

A Cetti's Warbler sang near the ringing ride steps this morning (JP) and a Red Kite seen over Cudworth bypass alighted near the wader scrape viewpoint at 13.35hrs (Dave Standish). 

Yesterday 31/7/21
3 fledged juv. Sparrowhawks were making short flights and the juv. Buzzard was calling. Butterflies included 1 Red Admiral, 2 Peacock, 2 Ringlet, 6 Gatekeeper and 10 GV White.

Our first Migrant Hawker of the year was taken down by a Brown Hawker and 2m Southern Hawkers were patrolling their territories.

The day flying male Vapourer moth and the micro moth Udea lutealis (5) were disturbed from vegetation.

Rabbit Ings (Yesterday)
A Barn Owl was hunting at 14.50hrs and a Green Woodpecker was calling (Chris Parkin).

Broad-leaved Helleborine (Epipactis helleborine) (CG)

It was found on Green Lane on right hand side of the path approaching the Wath Ings Hide
