Bretton yesterday (22/11/14)

After early morning mist the weather brightened to reveal 18 Cormorant, 32 Goosander, 8 Little Grebe, 26 Great Creasted Grebe, 17 Tufted Duck, Shoveler, 33 Teal, 32 Gadwall, 18 Wigeon, 9 Mute Swan, Water Rail, 3 Kingfisher, 26 Lapwing (on the mud), Nuthatch 4 and 5 Bullfinch.
Water levels still down half a metre and Carrion Crows having a feast on Swan Mussels.
Interesting that Gadwall were once quite scarce here and are now abundant. Did not find any Mandarin Duck but could have been hiding?

Mandarins sometimes hidden at waters edge on eastern island of lower lake. Look from south bank across. Sometimes they will come out and show well. Cheers.
