The Edge 17/11/2017

Wombwell Ings - Present were 359 Canada Geese, 22 Greylag, 1 Shelduck, 146 Wigeon, 17 Teal, 14 Shoveler, 9 Mallard, 1 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Moorhen, 1 Kestrel, 1 Buzzard, 68 Lapwing, 1 Ruff, 92 BH Gull, 1 Common Gull, 20+ Skylark, 1 male Stonechat, 30+ Redwing, 4 Fieldfare and 7 Reed Bunting.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+6y Mute Swan, 31 Greylag over west, 24 Teal, 23 Shoveler, 10 Tufted Duck, 9 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 5 Pochard, 6 Cormorant, 2 Sparrowhawk, 1 female Peregrine, 2 Kestrel, 9 Coot, 3 Moorhen, c100 Golden Plover, 26 Lapwing, 4 Snipe, 1 Ruff, 46 BH Gull, 1 Herring Gull, 1 LBB Gull, 30+ Skylark and c20 Pied Wagtail.
Bolton Ings - Highlight was a Bittern flying over the reedbeds at the eastern end at 12.05pm. On the open water were  2+2y Mute Swan, 12 Greylag, 57 Tufted Duck, 9 Mallard, 6 Gadwall, 4 Shoveler, 4 Pochard, 2m+2f Goosander, 1f Goldeneye, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 218 Coot, 7 Common Gull, 5 BH Gull and 1 Herring Gull. Also present were 8 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 calling Chiffchaff and 2 Bullfinch.
