This morning a Hobby was chasing hirundines over the scrape. 20 Swift, 10 Swallow and 20 House Martins were feeding low due to the cool conditions. Both Whoopers Swans were present and 2 Cetti's Warbler sang. (JP)
This evening 2 Oystercatchers flew south at 19.32 hrs.
On the scrape, Kingfisher and 3 adult Little Grebe +1 juvenile. A Garden Warbler sang near the hide and a Great Spot Woodpecker was making more feeding trips to feed its young. Then at 21.25hrs a thud 10 yards from the hide was a Tawny Owl pouncing on a vole, which it carried straight towards me and then over the hide to feed its calling owlets. The owl returned about 5 minutes later and perched about 20 yards from the hide where I could see it in good light, before it went off to hunt again.
2 Terrapins were just visible by their heads in the scrape. As darkness fell several Pipistrelle were abroad along with 2 Swift-like Noctule Bats. As I left at 22.30hrs the owlets were still calling and some Reed Warblers still were belting their song out (CG).
