3 Short-eared Owls today one grappling with a Kestrel for a vole. The SEO flew so high that it was almost lost to sight, but it did fly north. The first record of a Merlin here came at about 4pm, flying down to the Monckton Flash area. (Jeff Lunn Russ Boland) They also had 2 coveys of Grey Partridges totalling 21 birds.
An immature Cormorant on the Flash this afternoon was another first for the reserve.
