Wombwell Ings- A day that made me think its finally recovered from the drying out of a few years ago. At first, on a quick scan through, it appeared quiet but whilst counting Teal(87) I noticed 3 Spotted Redshank. The count for Mallard(81) and Gadwall(6) revealed 8 Ringed Plover and 3 Dunlin. Scoping Lapwing(51 on the ings and 100+ in the back field) turned up a Little Stint. Checking BH Gull(12) and LBB Gull(2) added 2 Greenshank. New birds kept appearing- 40+ House Martin in the fields behind the Dove, a flock of 30+ Meadow Pipit, 2 Kestrel, 2 Grey Heron, 111 Greylag, 1 juv Herring Gull, 3 Yellow Wagtail and finally 1 singing Chiffchaff. Not a bad morning!!!
