Carlton Marsh

26 Greylags flew south at dawn and a few minutes later 56 flew north. 25 Canada Geese dropped in shortly after. A Water Rail was feeding out in the open and 10 Shoveler were feeding nearby. Passerines included a Redpoll (first this autumn) 8 Siskin, Treecreeper, 20 Redwing, 4 Mistle Thrush (feeding on Whitebeam berries) Also present Little Owl, Green & Great Spot Woodpecker, 2 Buzzard & Bittern. It was stood at its usual favoured spot on the edge of the reeds, seeable from the hide, at 14.00hrs.
