Carlton Marsh

Today's highlights were 57 Pink Feet Geese NW at 3pm just as Bittern flew across the scrape. It showed again briefly at 16.20hrs as it flew into its usual roosting area at the back of the scrape. If the hide is locked, it can seen just as easily from the disused railway embankment. (Dave Standish/CG) Also of note Kingfisher and 1 Fieldfare. There no reports of this species in December for the first time since records began in 1972!
As dusk approached 4 Water Rails called (2 seen in front of hide) and at least 2 Tawny Owls (1 seen ) were calling.
