Wintersett - 1 in and 1 out. Again! 01.01.13

Lovely weather to start the new year.  DRY! (but not underfoot),  with blue sky and sunshine.  Flocks of visiting birders got their year lists off to a good start.
Wintersett Res: The drake SMEW returned.  2 male Scaup and 3 Egyptian Geese remain.
Anglers CP: There was NO SIGN of the  AMERICAN WIGEON. Even a walk to Walton Hall lake proved fruitless although a Siskin was heard in Stubbs Wood.   The female  Long-tailed Duck was diving in her usual spot towards the southern end of the lake.
Highlight this morning was a flock of 150 Pink-footed Geese flying east at 09.35 hrs,
