Wintersett 20.09.13

15 degrees,  westerly breeze,  sunny, clear start, increasing cloud by late morning.
Wintersett Res:   4 Whooper Swans were on Wintersett Res. this morning, but left east at 11.50hrs
Anglers CP Vis. Mig:  A cream crown Marsh Harrier flew slowly SW at 10.20 hrs. A Spotted Redshank flew in  from the north calling,  then flew south to drop in at the shallows at 11.20hrs, before being chased back north by a Lapwing. 
Going west - Pink-footed Goose 7 at 08.10hrs,  Snipe 6,  Grey Wagtail1,  Skylark 21 + 3 S + 3 NE.   
Going south - Swallow 31,  Meadow Pipit 190,  Linnet 26,  Goldfinch 8,  Greenfinch 8, Sand Martin 2, Pied Wagtail 2, Chaffinch 4,     
AnglersCP:  House Martin 200 and  Snipe 2.

Had to check if these were our earliest. There have only been two previous September records at Wintersett, both in 2010, with the earliest being on the 18th.

Oops!! referring to the Whoopers of course!
