The Edge 1st Sept

Wombwell Ings mid AM- Present were 2 Little Grebe, 3 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 2 Mute Swan, 122 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 13 Mallard, 13 Teal, 5 Gadwall, 2 Tufted Duck, 238 Lapwing, 3 Greenshank, 2 Dunlin, 2 Ruff, 5 BH Gull, 1 LBB Gull, 1 Kestrel, 6+ Pied Wagtail, 2 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Kingfisher, 2 singing Chiffchaff and1 Whinchat.
Broomhill Flash late AM- Noted were 17 Little Grebe, 8 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 1a+2y Mute Swan, 4 Canada Geese, 31 Mallard, 17 Tufted Duck, 12 Teal, 6 Shoveler, 5 Gadwall, 1 Pochard, 64 Lapwing, 5 Spotted Redshank, 3 Ruff, 2 Snipe, 1 Greenshank, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Kestrel, 6+ Yellow Wagtail and 2 Skylark.
Bolton Ings early PM- Highlight was the brief appearance of a Bittern at 1.50pm. Spotted by J.Seeviour, it dropped back into the reeds before 'Too Slow' Whitehouse could pick it up. Also present were 13 Little Grebe, 8 Great Crested Grebe, 7 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 5a+7y Mute Swan, 2 Canada Geese, 32 Tufted Duck, 27 Gadwall, 7 Pochard, 6 Mallard. 2 Teal, 1 Shoveler, 58 Lapwing, 2 Redshank, 1 Kestrel, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Buzzard, 1 Grey Partridge, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Swift, 2 Green Woodpecker and 1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker.
