Bolton Ings - Highlight was a female Goshawk, picked up by Seev as it flew east over the reedbeds before landing in a tree on the eastern end of the eastern pool. During its ten minute stay , from 12.45 to 12.55, it was briefly joined on the opposite side of the tree by a male Sparrowhawk, This offered a good comparison in terms of size, breast colour and eye stripe. Unfortunately the Goshawk was observed to have jesses on its legs. On the open water were 3 Mute Swan, 64 Greylag, 27 Tufted Duck, 12 Gadwall, 8 Mallard, 8 Pochard, 5 Wigeon, 1f Goldeneye, 359 Coot, 1 Moorhen, 11 Herring Gull, 7 Common Gull and 3 BH Gull. Also present were 1 Marsh Harrier ( mid AM ), 1 female Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Green Woodpecker and 1 Marsh Tit.

Could this be the escaped Goshawk owned by a bloke on Storrs Mill Lane, Cudworth? He lost it towards the end of last year and it did have jesses on.
Thanks for info Cliff. Have passed it on to Seev the Spotter.
