Carlton Marsh

Our resident pair of Buzzards were in the air with this year's juvenile. Groups of Swallows moving through included 5+20+20 and 4 Swifts.

The wader scrape was almost bereft of wildfowl, but 2 Yellow Wagtails in at 13.40hrs was worth the wait.

Except for a few White species and Speckled Wood there were no butterflies, not even on the Buddleias. What few Peacocks there were must have gone into early hibernation.

There were however, plenty of Common Darter, Brown Hawker and Migrant Hawkers (CG).

Storrs Mill Wood to Ardsley Viaduct (along the Dearne 21/8/22)
216 Speckled Wood, 3 Painted Lady, 18 Red Admiral, 9 Comma, 1 Brown Argus, 5 Holly Blue, 4 Small Copper (one pair mating), 2 Gatekeeper and 2 female Banded Demoiselle (Chris Parkin).
