Tight as a ducks.........

With more than 90% of Old Moor frozen most of the wildfowl were huddled tightly together meaning it would have been very easy to miss something. Counting was also difficult and the following numbers were very much a bare minimum: Greylag 25, Wigeon 800, Teal 400, Gadwall 260, Tufted 24, Pochard 22, Shoveler 8, Goosander 8. About 100 Lapwing and two Dunlin were stood on the ice. The Tree Sparrow farm was very busy with a couple of Linnets among the many finches, buntings and sparrows. There was also a small but noticeable movement of Fieldfare southwest. Reedbeds not visited.
