Bolton Ings - 11th November
A cold start this morning 3c at 8 oclock and a sharp frost, clear blue skies and flat calm. Soon got milder and reached 10c by 11 oclock. Very quiet to start with but got better, highlight being 99 Pochard. Only 18 seen before something or someone disturbed them and they emerged from reeds to be counted. A female Goldeneye still present and a couple of Goosander flew round. A redshank present on the newly formed mud and Gadwall up to 78. Sadly the limping Oystercatcher found dead on the grassland between the 2 main pools.
