Edderthorpe Floods - again!

For the forth time this year the River Dearne has come over the floodbanks at Edderthorpe Flash and completly filled it up. Fortunatly at this time of year there is little to be harmed breeding bird wise but I would imagine the voles and things aren't too pleased about it. Goosander 9 and Shoveler 35 were the highlights on the water, but the flooding has moved Snipe 16 and Jack Snipe 2 out of the marsh and onto the grass floodbank.

Problem is at the moment - when the Dearne is in flood then most other places in Yorkshire are also flooding so we don't see the benefits of all the birds that follow such events.
At some point, and I hope it's in my lifetime, the River Dearne will be re-united with its floodplain and then we really would see some changes in bird populations.
