The gull roost on the Top Res did the business again this evening when a
first-winter Glaucous Gull came in at 17.03 and stayed until dark. The usual
third-winter Yellow-legged Gull was also present along with good numbers of other large gulls;- GBBGull 60, LBBGull 10, Herring Gull 460. Just a couple of weeks ago most of the large gulls roosting were adults but now most are immature (mostly first-winters), as most of the adults have moved on, back to their breeding grounds. The
Bittern was sat up in its usual reedbed at dusk.
