Bolton Ings et al - Sunday 19th January

A grey start this morning, 4c and no wind, sun came out at midday with temperature rising to 8c. WeBS count day today so as usual very quiet, highlights being a Buzzard present all morning on fence posts and telegraph poles and a covey of 13 Grey Partridge. The drake Goldeneye was displaying to the 2 females and Common Gulls a healthy 63. I visited the Reedbeds at Old Moor late afternoon, 2 Barn Owls put on a fine display 1 of which tried coming in the hide. A Bittern dropped in at 5.10 and a Green Sandpiper was calling
