Another late start today with a heavy cold hampering me, very cold -2c at 10.00 am rising to +2c mid afternoon, clear blue skies early on but soon clouded over. The western pool had 50% ice but the eastern pool was ice free. Highlights today were c130 Pink Footed Geese West at 11.20, a Water Rail on the eastern pool and 9 Skylarks in a field near the river Dearne. On the down side no Little Grebes, Wigeon, Goldeneye or Canada Geese seen today. I have no news today from Old Moor but yesterday a Bittern roosted, also present Green Sandpiper, Peregrine and 5 Shelduck.
