The Edge 20th March

Wombwell Ings mid AM- Surprised how light it was during the eclipse. No 'Silence of the Birds' on the Ings. Present were 3 Mute Swan, 38 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 236 Wigeon, 24 Teal, 21 Tufted Duck, 14 Shoveler, 11 Mallard, 5 Gadwall, 1 Grey Heron, 12 Coot, 5 Moorhen, 14 Golden Plover, 14 Lapwing, 4 Redshank, 39 BH Gull, 1 Song Thrush, 4 Skylark, 4 Reed Bunting and 1 Chiffchaff.
Broomhill Flash late AM- Noted were 3 Mute Swan, 33 Canada Geese, 9 Greylag, 74 Wigeon, 13 Mallard, 13 Tufted Duck, 8 Gadwall, 6 Pochard, 2 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 2 Cormorant, 6 Little Grebe, 15 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 2 Kestrel, 16 Lapwing, 3 Redshank, 1 Oystercatcher, 250+ BH Gull, 1 Common Gull and a flock of 50+ Jackdaw. M.Rushton had a Goldcrest on the top lane.
TPT- Singing males- 2 Song Thrush, 1 Chiffchaff and 2 yaffling Green Woodpecker.
Bolton Ings early PM-On the open water were 1 Mute Swan, 7 Canada Geese, 11 Greylag, 1 Pink Footed Goose, 18 Tufted Duck, 14 Goldeneye, 14 Pochard, 9 Mallard, 5 Shoveler, 2 Wigeon, 2 Teal, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Little Grebe,1 Cormorant, 39 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 195 BH Gull, 7 Common Gull and 1 LBB Gull. Also present were 3 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Sparrowhawk and 2 Grey Wagtail.
