Wintersett + Gull Roost 31.12.15

5 - 9 degrees with clear sky and a strong south westerly this morning.  Drizzly rain and wind went westerly mid afternoon.
Wintersett Res:  Cetti's Warbler 2 singing males - boathouse reeds and north bank reeds.  Willow Tit 1 SW corner + 1 car park feeders.  Teal 2,  Water Rail 2 and Siskin 1 over + 1 ACP.
Anglers CP: Redshank 1 and Barn Owl 1.
ACP Gull Roost was phenomenal!  A steady build up of birds  yielded an adult Yellow-legged Gull at 15.30hrs.  Around 15.45hrs there was a huge influx of  thousands  of large gulls from the  direction of Hampole.  They split into two groups with many flying over to Wintersett Res.  A rain squall, a change in wind direction and failing light made it difficult to pick birds out.   However, the 3rdW ICELAND GULL was found at 16.05hrs and the juvenile GLAUCOUS  GULL put on its latest, late show at 16.26hrs.   These two birds have appeared in the roost previously.  There were many birds still dropping in after dark, but it was a good end to the year!
