2 Bittern chasing each other around the marsh at 08.05hrs and again at 08.13hrs (Keith Bannister) The original bird was on its favourite preening spot at 13.40hrs for about 3 minutes and later at 17.46hrs. A Little Egret flew north at 14.25hrs. Also present 9 Shoveler, Grey Wagtail, Willow Tit and Buzzard. 70 Lapwing flew east and Water Rail called. The Coot chick was being kept warm by the adult on the nest.
As I don't see them much can anyone with more experience age and sex this bird from this record shot?

Great news Cliff! I bet this is the most excitement here since 1988!
With the record wildlife counts it seems the great work done by YWT's Pete Wall and his team is starting to pay off.
Let's hope it continues.
Cheers
Russ
