BARNSLEY BIRD STUDY GROUP WINTER MEETINGS

As in previous years the Meetings will be held the first Thursday in the month, November to March inclusive, at the Old Moor RSPB visitor centre starting at 7.15 pm. There is a cover charge of £2.50 per person which includes an interval drink.
The following are the dates and speakers for the forthcoming sessions;-

Thursday 2nd November 2017
David Hunt on 'Combating bird of prey persecution'.
David works for the RSPB and is involved in combating the ongoing persecution of raptors in the Peak District.

Thursday 7th December 2017
Ron Marshall on 'Wild images of Spain'.
Ron needs no introduction, his quality photography is well known to all.

Thursday 4th January 2018
Tim Jones on 'The birds of Spurn'.
There's plenty to learn for everyone about the attraction of the UKs number 1 mainland site for migrant birds.

Thursday 1st February 2018
Richard Baines on 'The North Yorkshire Turtle Dove Project'
Turtle Doves, common to most of us as youngsters but now extinct as a Barnsley breeding species. Find out how they are faring in other Yorkshire areas.

Thursday 1st March 2018
Professor John Reilly on 'The Ascent of Birds, how modern science is revealing their story'.
Covers the fascinating evolution and speciation of modern birds, including some found locally. A renowned speaker with one of the most thought-provoking subjects (according to our friends at Sheffield Bird Study Group!)
