The Edge 13/10/2017

Wombwell Ings - A big passage of Pink Footed Geese this morning with at least 7 skeins, totalling 800+ birds flying west. On the Ings were 45Wigeon, 32 Teal, 14 Mallard, 10 Shoveler, 3 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, c200 Lapwing, 100+ Golden Plover, 9 Ruff, 7 Dunlin, 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 46 BH Gull, 1 Buzzard, 1 Peregrine, 5 Skylark and 5 Redpoll.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+6y Mute Swan, 36 Tufted Duck, 27 Shoveler, 21 Teal, 12 Gadwall,4 Mallard, 2 Pintail, 9 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret ( 12 early AM by PWK ), 2 Little Grebe, 10 Coot, 9 Moorhen, 2 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 42 Lapwing, 8 Ruff, 2 Snipe, 67 BH Gull and 6 LBB Gull. A Great White Egret, seen by PWK, flew north at 7.31am.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 2+4y Mute Swan, 113 Greylag, 77 Canada Geese, 5 Pink Footed Geese, c30 Wigeon over west, 7 Mallard, 4 Gadwall, 4 Pochard, 3 Tufted Duck, 1 Teal, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 117 Coot, 39 BH Gull, 7 LBB Gull, 2 Common Gull and 1 Herring Gull. Also present were 5 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron  and 1 Kestrel.
