Ardsley Viaduct - Storrs Mill River Bridge on the Dearne
There were plenty of Purple Hairstreaks near the viaduct where I first found them more than 20 years ago.
This rather worn one was languishing on vegetation just a few feet above ground. (CG)

As we walked along were heard a Kingfisher and a male Banded Demoiselle was resting on vegetation. 10 species of butterfly included 18 Peacock, 26 Meadow Brown, 4 Red Admiral, 7 Small Tortoiseshell, 5 Ringlet and 15 Gatekeeper.
2 Buzzards, a Kingfisher and a Grey Wagtail were at storrs Mill Bridge. Also of note a friend of ours described what he thought was a Fritillary in this area yesterday, but there was no sign of it today.
