Carlton Marsh

This afternoon a male Peregrine scattered everything on the wader scrape including good numbers of Herring and LBB Gulls. The Iceland Gull wasn't present. (Dave Smith)
A female Gadwall has a new brood of 7 small young.

Earlier a female Peregrine chased a LBB Gull over Dave Smith's home in Carlton at 10.25hrs. The gull squealed like a child, but it got away towards Royston. The Peregrine left SE followed by a Buzzard heading north.

This afternoon Arthur Vincent was awe struck watching hundreds of winged ants take to the wing in his and other gardens on Stanley Street, Cudworth, as loads of Black Headed Gulls circled above picking them off at will.

Then just before dusk in my Cudworth garden, a Little Owl alighted on the guttering, only to be attacked by 2 male Blackbirds that made it dash into the trees for cover!
