Langsett Reservoir

A Common Sandpiper and a Little Ringed Plover were on the dam wall and another possibly 2 Common Sand and an Oystercatcher were seen later at the far end. 2 drake Teal, Tufted Duck and Cormorant were among the Canada Geese. A Cuckoo was calling in North America Wood along with a singing Goldcrest.
Over the moor 2 Buzzards were harassed by Curlews. In the Little Don Valley 2 Goldcrests were singing and a few Siskins were flying around calling, but there was no Redstart or Spotted Flycatcher. We talked to two local birders, who had the same negative result in Cliffe Wood.

Kestrel, Green Woodpecker and Cuckoo.
Butterflies included Dingy Skipper 115, Small Copper 3, Brimstone 4 males, Small Heath 3 and Holly Blue 1.
Other insects Light Emerald, Green Carpet and Mother Shipton moth 8, and Broad-bodied Chaser (Chris Parkin)
