Carlton Marsh

A Barn Owl departed from a tree near the wader scrape viewpoint at 06.30hrs (Neil Lunn). The 2 Redshanks were back on the w. scrape. During the morning a House Martin went straight through, at least 10 Chiffchaffs were singing along with 2 Blackcaps and 2 Cetti's Warblers. 5 Buzzards were in the air and Sparrowhawk and Kestrel were seen. 2 Grey Partridges were on the seeded fields nearby.

Butterflies from mid-day were 3 Peacock, 12 Small Tortoiseshell, 7 Comma, 2 Speckled Wood, 3m Brimstone, 3m Orange-tip, 3 Small White and 2 GV White. Also of note a Tawny Mining Bee and 9 Dark -edged Bee Fly (Chris Parkin).
