Carlton Marsh

4 Cuckoos were seen and heard this morning (2 males sang and 2 bubbling females included the 'hepatic' version back for the 3rd year in a row) (DM Smith/JP).

Also 4 LBB Gulls 5 Herring Gulls, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 2 Sedge Warblers, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Teal, a Cormorant south and a new brood of Canada Goose.

Insects included 5 GV White, 1 Bee Fly and our earliest ever Large Red Damselfly (CG).

3 Buzzards were in the air, Cormorant and 3 Grey Wagtails.  

300 butterflies included 45 Peacock, 56 S. Tortoiseshell plus larvae, 24 Speckled Wood, 3 Holly Blue, 7m Brimstone, 55 Orange-tip and 15 Large White. A Banded Demoiselle was also flying (C. Parkin).
