Wintersett, Saturday
Not much change from reports earlier in the week bird wise. The adult Yellow-legged Gull is still playing hard-to-get with the female Lesser Black-backed Gull and is either shy or has some concept of evolution and realises he really shouldn't go there (lets hope he doesn't discover alcohol this spring). Wigeon are down to 115 as they slowly leave, a Water Rail on the Pol, Oystercatcher 4, Redshank 1, a Curlew over, a flock of 200 Golden Plovers over Haw Park, up to 12 Sand Martins feeding over the lakes, Common Crossbills showing very well in Haw Park, the Cettis Warbler singing briefly in the morning and six Chiffchaffs singing were the highlights from today.
