Visited Old Moor this evening to take a look at the Starling roost that has developed recently on Wath Ings. The number of birds was very difficult to count, I estimated 2500, a long way short of the 12000 estimated on Saturday night. However they put on a fine show, the first birds appeared at 19.10 and they finally dropped into the reeds at 8 o'clock. Also on the Main Marsh were c20 Sand Martins but didn't see the Ruff.
2 Bitterns were booming well tonight and could be heard from the Wath Ings hide. Also heard calling tonight were Green Sandpiper (2), Pink Footed Goose/Geese and a Tawny Owl.
