Wintersett 03.07.14

19°C, 8/8 cloud, warm with a light south westerly.  One very brief light shower this morning.
Anglers CP: Little Gull 1 1st Summer,  Oystercatcher 2.  Little Grebe 1 1st W,  Cormorant 3,  Mallard 12 new vs young.  Tufted Duck 74 + 25 WRes. + 22 CHRes.
Wintersett Res: Goldeneye 1m,  Sand Martin 50.
Haw Park Wood: Goldcrest 1m.
Moth trapping last night produced a Red-necked Footman which is another new species  for the Wintersett area. Also trapped were Buff Footman,  Marbled White-spot,  White Satin, 2 Bordered Whites and 3 Elephant Hawk-moths.  A newly hatched, male Oak Eggar was found in the car park at lunchtime.

Great moths Pete. Yes it was a very good night for moths, they were queuing up to get in the trap. 26 species is good for my garden. They included Sycamore, Buff Arches 2,Elephant Hawk, The Miller, Swallowtail, Gothic and L.B.B.Underwing
