The Edge 05/09/2018

Wombwell Ings - Present were 350+ Canada Geese, 11 Greylag, 11 Teal, 5 Mallard, 1 Little Egret, 1 Kestrel, 27 Lapwing, 4 Snipe, 2 Greenshank, 1 Ruff, 1 Ringed Plover, 42 BH Gull, 3 Mistle Thrush, 3 Pied Wagtail,, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Chiffchaff and 4+ Yellowhammer. A novelty was a screeching Cockatiel that flew towards Broomhill village.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+4y Mute Swan, 200+ Canada Geese, 25 Greylag, 170 Mallard, 18 Tufted Duck, 13 Teal, 9 Gadwall, 1 Garganey, 35 Little Grebe, 5 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 35 Coot, 15 Moorhen, 19 Lapwing, 2 Snipe, 1 Greenshank, 1 Dunlin, 1 Ringed Plover, 1 LBB Gull and 15 Yellow Wagtail.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 2 Mute Swans, 9 Canada Geese, 2 Greylag, 61 Mallard, 12 Gadwall, 4 Wigeon, 3 Shoveler, 2 Pochard, 1 Teal, 7 Little Grebe, 4+3y Great Crested Grebe, 4 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 199 Coot and 2+1y Moorhen. Also present were 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 28 Lapwing, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Dipper, 1 Jay, 1 Grey Wagtail and 3 Chiffchaff.
