The Edge 06/09/2018

Wombwell Ings - Present were 41 Canada Geese, 32 Tufted Duck, 4 Mallard, 1 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Kestrel,  24 Lapwing, 2 Greenshank, 2 Snipe, 2 Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin, 1 Ruff, 24 BH Gull, 10+ Yellow Wagtail, 3 Grey Wagtail, 2 Pied Wagtail, 2 Meadow Pipit, 30+ Goldfinch, 2 Yellowhammer and 2 Reed Bunting. Failed to connect with the Spotted Flycatcher, seen early morning, in the hawthorns alongside the R. Dearne.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+4y Mute Swan, 500+ Canada Geese, 31 Greylag, 175+ Mallard, 17 Tufted Duck, 8 Teal, 7 Gadwall, 5 Shoveler, 1 Pochard, 1 Garganey, 33 Little Grebe, 6 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 22 Coot, 7 Moorhen, 23 Lapwing, 4 Snipe, 1 Greenshank, 2 Kingfisher and 1 Yellow Wagtail.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 2+2y Mute Swan, 75 Mallard, 45 Gadwall, 6 Teal, 5 Pochard, 3 Wigeon, 2 Shoveler, 7 Little Grebe, 3+5y Great Crested Grebe, 192 Coot, 1+1y Moorhen and 11 BH Gull. Also present were 6 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 1 Marsh Harrier, 11 Lapwing and 1 Grey Wagtail.
