Carlton Marsh

An Oystercatcher was on the wader scrape at 07.40hrs, but it left 5 minutes later - north, and at 13.45hrs the Great White Egret was on the main scrape. (K. Bannister) I have just had a report from one of the regular dog walkers to say that it was here at 19.00hrs last night.

Two Foxes were seen this morning.

This afternoon 200+ Herring and 14 LBB Gulls were on the wadeer scape. (J. Plant)

This evening a Cuckoo flew at eye level past the observer and sang. (D. Standish)

Because of its rarity staus, I have never blogged the Ardagh Glassworks Peregrine activities, but it seems that where they are, they are in no danger from people and employees. A ladder to the site was cut away last year and the Company has attached a camera to film them so that their employees can watch them. Yesterday the camera revealed that they had three newly hatched chicks and 1 egg still to hatch. They have bred here since 2015 with mixed success, last year 3 of the chicks were drowned in an uncovered water tank after leving the nest.
